South West Regional Development Agency

The SWRDA's goal is to improve the economy of South West England. This involves giving people the skills they need, encouraging enterprise and improving communications. They also promote the strengths of the region and help people to regenerate their communities.

The SWRDA also has objectives for the creative industries sector, which design heavily features. Creative industries is an emerging sector in the South West RDA's Regional Economic Strategy and Corporate Plan. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport defines the creative industries as: 'Those industries that have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property.'

Business Link Somerset

Business Link Somerset aids businesses and start-ups in all aspects of running a business. As part of their involvement with Somerset's business community they support many schemes and we are fortunate to have their support. They provide support by attending steering group meetings as well as financial support.

Inspire South West

Inspire South West was a £4 million programme to promote innovation in South West England, jointly funded by the South West RDA and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of the European Union's 'Innovative Actions' programme.

The programme delivered a range of innovative projects that met the core objectives of the Regional Economic Strategy and Regional Innovation Strategy. The programme was led by the RDA in partnership with Government Office for the South West and partners on the Inspire Implementation Group. The programme was linked to Objective 1 and 2 strategies for the South West, by driving up demand for business support services funded through these development programmes.
